The Tackle

All the tackle is supplied on “Island Lure” and is all top quality gear tried and tested for over a decade on the deep shore reef around the state.
However we understand that you will want to catch fish on your won gear. If you choose a thread line reel make sure you do your home work as all reels are not equal and the same goes for overheads.
OFFSHORE – Braided line should be a minimum of 50lbs preferably 80lbs and the trace to be 80lbs. Hooks 8/0 to 6/0 and for off shore include a few heavy jigs 200 to 350 grams for sambo’s and kingy’s. Sinkers weights need to be from 150 to 240 grams and don’t forget quality wind on leaders at 150lbs + and all of this need to be attached to a good quality rod and forget spare braid!
IN SHORE – tackle 8 – 10 kg mono or braid and hook size 6 – 2/0 for whiting and flathead fishing plus chuck in a few salmon lures and several squid jigs and a selection of light weight sinkers.
